Jenny Smith – NDIS Appeals Advocate

Jenny lives near Rockhampton in Central Queensland and has worked with marginalised and vulnerable people for more than 30 years in aged care, mental health, youth work, emergency services and with people who live with disabilities.  Jenny has a strong appreciation for the diverse forms and contexts of social advocacy for people with disability and has operated as an advocate for more than 25 years.

She is currently President of Capricorn Citizen Advocacy and is herself a Citizen Advocate. She participates in the Australian Citizen Advocacy Network and is a core member of the Citizen Advocacy Study Group.  Jenny was formerly a Deputy Chairperson of the Qld Disability Advisory Council (QDAC) and a former Director of Disability Advocacy Network Australia (DANA).  Her most recent roles were as Regional Manager of Red Cross in Central Qld and Business Improvement Manager with Capricornia Training Company.

Jenny is the immediate past President of the Qld Community Services Employers Association and currently serves as a Management Committee member of the Capricorn Community Development Association.
