With Cyclone Alfred approaching the coast of Queensland, we wanted to gather some resources that cover the rights of people with disability during natural disasters, and can help with being prepared for when a disaster hits.

Natural Disasters, disability and the law

With the help of law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, we put together this resource after the floods in 2022. It was made as a guide for people with disability to better understand their rights during and after natural disasters.

Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) resources

QDN have released some excellent resources on Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP). There’s a workbook to help people with disability tailor their emergency plan to their needs. As well as some helpful videos that explain P-CEP a little more.
