Are you a young Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person with disability with a message for the United Nations?
QAI is seeking Expressions of Interest from emerging young Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander leaders with disability who are interested in virtually attending the 14th United Nations Conference of States Parties (CoSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
Held online since 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CoSP remains a wonderful opportunity for the international disability community to collectively share ideas and advocate for progressive implementation of the CRPD.
In 2021, CoSP will be held in an online format from 15 – 17 June 2021 (New York time). The theme of this year’s CoSP is ‘Response and Recovery: Meeting the needs, realising the rights and addressing the socio-economic impacts on persons with disabilities’.
This theme is complemented by three sub-themes:
- Protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in armed conflict and humanitarian emergencies
- Living independently, being included in the community
- Right to education; challenges with inclusive education and accessibility during COVID-19
