While we do not practice law in the area of child protection, through the course of our disability advocacy work in child protection matters, we noticed that the guidance relied on for decision making in child protection matters is discriminatory and is likely contributing to the unnecessary removal of children from parents with disability.

We wrote this commentary following our review of some of Child Safety’s publicly available policies. We address four concerning themes we found throughout the policies as well as a break down of some specific issues we found in a range of policy documents.
