QAI welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the NDIS Review. The NDIS provides critical support that facilitates the rights of people with disability to be independent and to live full social and economic lives.
However key challenges with the scheme remain unresolved and are stopping it from realising its true, life-changing potential for Australians with disability.
QAI’s submission responds to several of the areas identified in the NDIS Review Panel’s ‘What we have heard’ report. Our suggested solutions are a combination of small, practical changes and more significant structural reform ideas.
Despite its difficulties, QAI believes there is still a lot that is working well within the scheme. Any proposed reforms should build upon these successes and use them as a starting point.
