What does an inclusive society mean to you?

As an organisation dedicated to promoting the rights and interests of the most vulnerable Queenslanders with disability, QAI considers an inclusive society to be an essential prerequisite for people with disability to enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms. Indeed its realisation lies at the very core of our work. Despite progress, people with disability continue to encounter barriers to their inclusion and experience discrimination as a result of negative attitudes fostered by policies of segregation.

QAI has written to the Disability Royal Commission in response to the “Promoting Inclusion” issues paper. We have outlined the key barriers to inclusion and provided our vision of a society that is not just physically but ideologically inclusive of people of all abilities.
